Staff from laboratories participating in the HQIP-B 2018 CAP/NSH HistoQIP product can individually earn CE credit by reading the Final Critique (accessed online or found in your mailed Final Critique) and answering online learning assessment questions. The online learning assessment questions reinforce concepts and discussion points presented in the reading.

The reading, questions, and feedback are created jointly by the National Society for Histotechnology (NSH) and the CAP.

As a result of participating in this assessment activity, you should be able to:

  1. Understand the clinical use of Ki-67 in the pathology laboratory.
  2. Understand and recognize the appropriate staining pattern evaluation of results.
  3. Understand some common pitfalls with the Ki-67 assay.
  4. Recognize other antibodies that can be used to demonstrate cell proliferation.
  1. Become familiar with the structure of mucins and how this affects their staining properties.
  2. Understand the principle of the mucicarmine stain.
